New Year

It's 2011 already, 2010 flew by in a flash. So much happened, both good and bad. I started off the year engaged and finished the year a married woman with a new name. What a rollercoaster it's been.

Christmas was lovely, although it all went by very quickly. Matt and I didn't get home until 16 December so we missed a week of the Christmas decorations being up and now they're already down. I had some lovely presents including two handbags, one from Matt and one from my brother, both are super. I'm already looking forward to next Christmas, this year I'm going to save up each month so that my Christmas spending is planned out and I don't end up nearly fainting when I look at my bank balance after Christmas.

After a month of not being in work I'm going back to work tomorrow, I'm starting a new job. I wish I could say I was looking forward to it but I'm not really, in my ideal world I'd work from home and home would be a darling little cottage that looks like the one from The Holiday. I wouldn't have to worry about first impressions and dressing up to go to work, I could just get up, do my work and be done. I know some people would say that I'd miss the social side of work but I never socialise with people from work, work colleagues take up enough of my time (eight hours a day) so why would I want to spend more time with them with I have a husband, friends and family waiting at home? I'm a grumpy sod, I know.

Matt and I have already planned our summer holiday although nothing is booked yet. We're going to be going to St Ives for a week and we shall camp! I really enjoy camping, although Matt says it's not real camping as we're not out in the middle of no where with the risk of being ripped limb from limb by a bear (ok, I added the last part). We were planning on going to NYC and Washington DC in late November, then we jumped to the idea of going to Disney World in June but we can't justify the price when we're saving up for a house and a trip to New Zealand so a cheap week in the UK is in order.

I'm not making resolutions this year, I never stick to them. I shall, however, try and update this blog more often than I have been doing. Happy 2011!
