Bank holiday shopping

With our trip to Florida coming up soon my thoughts have turned to getting ready to jet off into the sun so off I went to my local Boots to stock up.

First off, skin care. My skin is really calming down now that I've been on the antibiotics for a week but I'm left with some redness and scarring. The Botanics Ultra Calm aims to reduce skin sensitivity as well as calming it. The serum contains marshmallow (I know, I did think that was a bit odd), liquorice and linden flower, both of which reduce redness.

I bought the Skin Relief Serum, Skin Calming Night Cream and the Organic Rosewater Toning Spritz.

Next up, pretty colours for my nails. I've been wearing one of the Barry M Gelly Nail Polishes this week in Dragon Fruit (I put it on last Sunday and it's still going strong - totally chip free). I've been so impressed with it I thought I'd pick up two more (helped by the buy two save £1 deal that Boots has on at the moment). I only intended on buying the Barry M polish but the Revlon ColorStay caught my eye as I walked by it. The photo doesn't do the colour justice, I can't wait to wear it.

I've recently been looking for a new concealer as the Double Wear doesn't seem to be covering the redness on my chin at the moment. I'm not sure how well the two I went for will get on but for £1.99 it's worth a try. First up is the Natural Collection Cover-Up Stick in fair followed by the Natural Collection Corrector Stick.

I caved and bought one of the much hyped Revlon Lip Butters in Juicy Papaya. I almost went for Wild Watermelon but there was just too much sparkle in it for me.

I also bought a single eye shadow in Willow from the Natural Collection (not online). It's a really lovely every day colour.

Summer means one thing for me, wavy beach hair. I tend to let me hair air dry in the summer and with a little help from a bottle I get wavy hair. All I'm missing is some blonde highlights and I'd achieve the perfect beach bum look.

For years I swore by the Fructis texturising spray, it was brilliant and it served me well but then they stopped making it (as always seems to happen to me) so I switched to V05 surf style spray, but it wasn't as good. I was hoping that my local Boots would have more selection of sea salt sprays but they only had two. The only reason I went for the Tony & Guy spray was that it came in a sample size so I could try it rather than commit to a full size. I've already tried it and it smells amazing.

Onto summer skin. I am deathly pale, I'm like Casper the ghost. I glow, I'm that pale. I don't want to stick out like a sore thumb in Florida, hence the Dove lotion. Fingers crossed it works. The smell is incredible regardless.

Being so pale, sun protection is extremely important to me. I don't tan at all, I burn, peel and then go back to being pasty. Hopefully I won't burn on holiday if I use SPF 30, although Matt seemed to think I'd need something higher. I used SPF 50 in the Maldives and didn't burn, but Florida isn't as near to the equator so fingers crossed I'll be ok.

It was quite the haul and despite spending more than I'd like I left feeling that little buzz you get after a good shop.

What are your favourite summer products?
